Correct Portions Throughout the Day
The Hauser Bear Diet equals balance! This means that Bears should not only be balancing their food intake throughout the day, but balancing the types of food they consume each day, IE a blend of carbohydrates, protein, and fats. Starting your day with a good bear breakfast

Protein portion size
Do you know what 4 ounces of beef or chicken looks like? You will likely be shocked at just how small 4 ounces of meat is! It is about the size of a deck of cards.

Carbohydrates
A plate full of pasta is not a serving! Again, measure your pasta before you put it on your plate. Are you eating one cup? Two cups? Three Cups? A serving is actually about a ˝ cup. Choose carbohydrates with caution. White carbohydrates, like white bread, white flour, and sugar, are devoid of nutrients and fiber, so avoid them. Vegetables, whole grains, and whole fruits are the healthiest and most nutrient-rich carbohydrates. Choose organically grown fruits and vegetables, when possible since they are grown naturally without using unhealthy pesticides.

Fat
Fats are necessary, but can easily be overdone due to how calorically-dense they are. Get in the know. Choose foods low in hydrogenated fats, using good fats such as organic olive, coconut, and flax seed oils.
The Bear and Diet Soda
For a lot of people it is hard to imagine that "calorie free" does not equal healthy! As the Hauser Diet has proven again and again, it's not about the calories! What you put inside your body is intended to nourish. A common drink we are warning people about is Diet Soda — take one look at the nutrition label and you will see that there are no calories, but there are also no nutrients. And some new research is showing that it may be even worse than you think!

These are the ingredients in a common diet soda: aspartame, Phosphoric Acid, Potassium Benzoate (To Protect Taste), Natural Flavors, Citric Acid, Caffeine-none of these are essential to the diet and further more there are noted negative side effects with many of these ingredients, especially with Aspartame which is an artificial sweetener.

Three recent studies have all linked consumption of 1 or more diet soda drinks to type 2 diabetes and/or metabolic syndrome, a deadly condition where someone has multiple metabolic risk factor such as excess abdominal fat, high blood fats, uncontrolled inflammation, high blood pressure, and trouble controlling blood sugars. In fact people who consume diet soda may have anywhere from 36% to 67% increased risk on developing type 2 diabetes and/or metabolic syndrome. With all of the other worries in your life, why add a serious disease or condition on top of it?

The Hauser Diet encourages the correct type of eating for each individual. It combines the results of a person's specific blood work with the fresh foods that we know can nourish and strengthen the body. If you are confused about all of the information out there and don't know where to start in making changes, give us a call. We love helping people sort their way through all of the information out there and find the right path for their body and their life.

More Nutrition With Less Calories
You need to consume a balance of complex carbohydrates, protein, and fat in your daily diet. Depriving yourself of one or more of these food groups will decrease your ability to succeed at whatever goal you are trying to achieve or maintain.

That being said, it all comes down to portions for Bears. Even if you are eating all the right foods, having too much or too little of them can also have an impact on your end objective.

Avoid "empty calorie" foods
Foods and drinks with a lot of calories, but not many nutrients, such as chips, cookies, soda, and alcohol.

Stop Over-Stimulating Your Thyroid
Eating too many dairy products, fried foods, sugar and sugar-containing foods, soft drinks, coffee, pasta, and white bread products can contribute to the weight gain, low energy levels, stress, and fatigue associated with the over-stimulated thyroid. Read more
