Here’s how to drop pounds if you are sick and tired of being overweight:
1. Make sure you are actually following the Monkey Diet correctly. Keep a food diary of everything you eat and drink over a week.

2. Reread, or maybe for the first time read, the Monkey Diet Type chapter in The Hauser Diet: A Fresh Look at Healthy Living! There are tips for you to lose weight, and pitfalls that you are susceptible to and how to avoid them.

3. Do not buy into the diet food gimmicks of “Fat free” foods. Realize that “diet” foods are over processed and have many additives and artificial flavors added to make the food taste better. You are not supposed to fill up on foods that are high in fat- nor are you supposed to fill up on their fake “low fat” counterparts! Eat how a Monkey is supposed to eat, using real food!

4. Eat vegetables at EVERY meal. Think vegetables and complex carbohydrates, with some lean protein. Use fats (like olive oil or nuts) sparingly to dress up your meals or to cook with. This is what should be on your plate.

5 After eating right for your
Hauser Diet Type, exercise is the next most vital step at boosting your metabolism. Mixing up a daily exercise routine with a variety of activities that you enjoy will keep things interesting and motivate you to keep going! You will feel better mentally and feel stronger physically. You can start with walking, if that is the level you are at, but need to strive for something more challenging, like running or cycling.

6. Use plant based foods as snacks to keep you going through your day. Many of you Monkeys are busy folks-we understand! Keep your metabolism going strong by munching on fruits, veggies, or some whole grain crackers throughout the day. Don’t just eat one big meal at night with nothing but coffee to sustain you during the day.

7. Control your portions by controlling your emotional ties to eating. The Monkey Diet is not about counting calories so much as it is about learning how food makes you feel. Eat until you just begin to feel full- then STOP. If you eat past this point, you are overeating and not helping your weight loss efforts.

When temptation comes knocking, your will power is the only thing to keep it from coming in and ruining your weight loss efforts. Stay focused on your goal and act like you really want it! You need to want it more than that fried chicken, cheese dip, or extra helping of sausage pizza. When Monkeys practice eating meals that are low in fat, moderate in protein and high in plant foods, they have the best chances for successful and long term weight loss.

You can do it, and you just need some help! Knowing your Diet Type and having regular follow ups is key to staying on track! Call us for an appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon.
