Otter Breakfast
We know you’ve heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. For you, this is very true. Think about it this way. If you get the right amount of sleep, or close to it, you will have gone at least 6-8 hours without food. Now, if you didn’t eat right before bed, you can add on a couple more hours to that. Wow, 10 hours with no food? That’s a really long time. When you wake, your metabolism will be down and you’re blood sugars may need a boost to get you going. Having breakfast really will get you started in the right direction.

So what should you eat? First and foremost you need protein.

Eggs
There are tons of ways to prepare eggs. Go with the norm by making them hard boiled or over easy. Make a scrambler by throwing in some ham, onions and tomatoes to scrambled eggs, then top it off with a bit of cheese. You can add any ingredients you like to get the taste you desire.

Breakfast Burritos
Get out a tortilla and load it up with lots of goodies. Do an egg burrito with hot sauce, or a chicken burrito with bell peppers and onions…fajita style. Burritos are another way to get creative, how about turkey and avocado?! If you use a corn tortilla, even gluten intolerant people can make a burrito that works for them!

Sausage and Bacon
Heat up some sausage and bacon. They’re both Otter foods and can be quick. There are lots of different varieties out there too. Organic chicken sausage has so many flavors now, my favorite is Chicken Apple. These are good for those of you (and me!) who have all the big allergies like dairy, gluten, and egg.

Protein Shakes
This is a handy thing to keep around because you can take on the go. Get a powder that fits your nutritional needs. Dairy allergies will prevent you from doing a whey shake, but you have the options of soy, rice, or egg protein powders as well. If you have time to use the blender, throw in your milk of choice, yogurt of choice if you want, and then a couple tablespoons of your favorite nut butter and a dash of vanilla. You can also use your serving of fruit here. Use part of a banana or a small handful of berries. You won’t even be able to taste the protein powder!

Any and all combinations of the above would be perfect Otter breakfasts. In the end remember that you need something and it should be protein or fat based! If you’re an Otter who isn’t a breakfast person, let’s turn that around and see how you feel. The difference will be worth it!
